The game saw a Northants debut for the clubs new youngest ever player 14 year old Tom Willis. Simon Ledwith also made his VIXINS debut replacing the injured Ian Goodearl.
Worcester won the toss and put Northants into bat decision they were regretting when David Gavrilovic and Shah Miah set a new VIXINS record partnership for the first wicket of 103 in less than 10 overs.
Miah was out caught on the boundary for 58 and was soon followed by Gavrilovic caught and bowled for 26 and Alastair Provan for a brisk 20.
Simon Ledwith and Tom Willis then steadied the ship with a terrific 79 run partnership before Tom was run out for 12 which doesn't sound much but he picked off the singles to allow the inform Ledwith take most of the strike.
Ledwith was joined by Mark Simons for the last 4 overs of the innings and was able to power to his first career century ending up 103 not out with Simons left 2 not out when the side declared after 24.2 overs on 282 for 4 with the final shot being the boundary that bought up Ledwith's century.
Worcester's innings started in chaos with that man again Ledwith running out Alistair Irving of Worcester before he faced a ball just 4 deliveries into the innings. Alastair Provan and David Gavrilovic then removed the next two batsman in rapid succession.
Shah Miah and Charles Ronayne then claimed a pair of wickets each and left Worcester on just 37 on their last pair with two players unable to bat. At this point 15 year old Sam Murray took control of the innings smashing 58 not out before Alastair Provan bowled the b1 at the other end to bring the innings to a close on just 112 all out leaving Northants 13.5 overs to spare. The innings was prolonged partly due to excellent batting from Murray and partly due to two dropped catches from the same fielder (can't think who that was! He certainly wasn't the author of this report!!).
So Northants claim all 25 points to top the league table and their were a lot of positives to be taken including catches from Charles Ronayne, Shah Miah, Alastair Provan and Dave (1 out of 3) G.
So next up crunch clashes against Eastern Vipers and Birmingham at the end of July within six days of each other.
